IRON DOG HEWITT

DNF: Tim finished his attempt at 320 miles

Mobirise

UPDATE: Tim ended his Iron Dog Hewitt attempt at Ruby at mile 320. He battled with extreme cold and a very snowy trail (or lack of trail) for nearly 12 days and expected no improvement in the conditions. The trail hadn't been used for quite some time, so he got to enjoy a lot of wildlife. Ask him about his Great Horned Owl attack some time for a good story. He is now home in Pennsylvania and only a little worse for the wear.

Track Tim as he attempts to traverse Alaska on foot pulling his supply sled Cookie 1,304 miles along the 2020 Irondog Route from Fairbanks Alaska along the frozen rivers and through passes to the coast. From there Tim will turn north and cross the frozen Norton Sound of the Bering Sea well above the arctic circle for a 400 mile loop before returning to the sea and heading west to Nome to finish. The course will be beautiful and challenging.

Tim started February 1, two weeks before the snowmobile race to optimize his chances for a trail for the harshest part of the expedition above the arctic circle.
